The Sendai Seven Campaign in 2021   Concept NoteWorld Tsunami Awareness Day for 2021 promotes target (f) of the seven global targets of the Sendai Framework for measuring progress on reducing disaster risk and losses, which is to "Substantially enhance international cooperation to developing countries through adeuqare and sustainable support to complement their national actions for implementation of the present Framework by 2030."

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction, Mami Misutori, offered an invitational message to celebrate World Tsunami Awareness Day 2021. She proclaimed the UN Decade for Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, 2021-2030, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reduce tsunami risk globally.

In 2021, UNESCO IOC Member States established a Tsunami Programme to contribute the UN Decade Safe Ocean outcome. Transformative improvements in tsunami detection, forecasting, Logo Tsunami Ready 09 19 rectangleand warning, along with global-scale coastal community resilience-building, are envisioned. An aim will be to make 100% of communities at risk of tsunamis prepared and resilient to tsunamis by 2030 through the UNESCO-IOC Tsunami Ready Programme and other initiatives. In every ocean, many countries have already started.

WEBINARS

Global and regional events (Agenda) organized by the UNDRR and UNESCO IOC, in collaboration with other UN agencies and external partners, are planned. In addition, many countries will celebrate World Tsunami Awareness Day.
